About Mahon CDP

Mahon Community Development Project receives core funding through the Department of Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs as part of the National Community Development Programme.

It was established in 1992 and is one of over 170 such projects spread across the country, that aim to tackle disadvantage, discrimination and exclusion. The Project operates a community resource centre and runs a community creche for under 3's as well as undertaking targetted work with young people at risk, people with disabilities, older people, Travellers and unemployed people. The Project is currently involved in community arts, environmental and equality focused initiatives.

At this stage in it's development, the Project (which is managed by a voluntary committee) is viewed as a key community resource which enables new groups to develop and networks to be established and supported.back to top
