The Mahon Men’s Art Group was formed in 1998 when it grew out of the Mahon Community Development Project’s Community Arts Initiative (bringing men and art together), when a few members taking a photography course decided they would like to form a men’s art group.

The Group have gone from strength to strength since 1998 with local men aged from 18 to 80 plus years exploring their creative skills.

To encourage, locally, an interest and appreciation in all the arts.
To improve self-esteem and confidence of group members
To lobby for the establishment of a local, dedicated art studio space for the Group.
To offer a supportive and friendly environment where local men can express themselves.
Using art as a mechanism to encourage alternative approaches in tackling and highlighting local issues and concerns.
