Statement of Mahon Community Development Project
Mahon
Community Development Project recognises that in Irish society
groups and individuals are discriminated against and denied
equality of opportunity. The project therefore is committed
to promoting equality opportunities and anti-discrimination
practices and procedures. The project will strive to ensure
that all barriers, procedures, attitudes and behaviour, which
inhibit equality of opportunity, are removed.
The
project is committed to a positive programme of action to promote
equal opportunities (job applicants or affiliated members) and
eliminate any discrimination on the basis of gender, marital
status, age, disability, sexual orientation, family status,
race or ethnic origin, Travellers, religion.
The
anti-racist/anti-discrimination working group representing the
staff and management of the Mahon CDP will monitor the implementation
of the project’s equality opportunity policy.
All
users of the project’s resource centre will be treated
equally and their individuality respected.
Provision
of a user friendly/accessible supportive resource centre.
Encouraging
and supporting representation and inclusion of minority/discriminated
against groups in the decision-making structures of the project.
Staff,
management and members of working groups will be encouraged
to avail of in-service training to raise awareness of equal
opportunities issues.
